Reason why it is such a rare bird lover who does not use vitamin supplements.
Vitamins are natural components of food, being present in tiny amounts. Its nature is organic and are essential for normal growth and functioning of different organs. They are generally manufactured by the body in sufficient quantities to meet the physiological requirements and therefore must be obtained through diet.

VITAMINS “natural or synthetic?

Natural vitamins are those that are present in foods naturally. While synthetics are man-made in a laboratory and made available to the public in the form of drops, powders, tablets, capsules, etc..
Dr. T. G. Randolph, allergist famous English stated, “A synthetically produced substance can cause a reaction in a chemically sensitive person, although the substance is tolerated when it has a natural origin, and although the two substances have a chemical structure identical”. The same statement could be extrapolated to the world of animals, including birds. Vitamins are not pure, but families of products, therefore, synthetic vitamins are only modest laboratory approaches to products created Nature.
The action of the vitamins may be increased or decreased depending on the presence or absence of certain substances. For example, vitamin B1 is destroyed in the presence of thiaminase, a substance present in beets, Brussels sprouts, berries, etc.. In flaxseed find a substance that acts as an antagonist of vitamin B6.

At other times the presence of vitamins facilitates the processing of minerals:

- Vitamin D3 is necessary for Calcium is absorbed in the intestine. An insufficient amount of this vitamin causes deficient levels of calcium in the body if the diet has adequate amounts of this mineral.

- Another example is the increased absorption of iron in the presence of vitamin C.

- Selenium and vitamin E are interrelated.

Whenever possible should be given vitamins in their natural form, ie through food. Reserving the use of synthetic cases where we want to provide a full and rapid dose in birds with a strong vitamin deficiency. Certain manipulations of food can totally or partially destroy their vitamin content, such as cooking, canning, freezing or during storage. For example, green vegetables lose most of their vitamin C within a few days at room temperature, once they have been collected.

CLASSIFICATION

Vitamins can be classified into two groups:
Soluble: A, D, E and K.
They tend to accumulate in the body, making it easier to intoxication if administration is prolonged and exceeds the needs.
Soluble: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B12, C, Colina, phallic acid and PABA. They are easily removed, so that intoxication is rare
